Israeli media reported on Thursday that Israeli Police and Shin Bet apprehended an ISIS (Islamic State) supporter who had been in contact with representatives of the terrorist organization abroad to plan an attack.
The 22-year-old man was arrested by Shin Bet on May 6. The investigation revealed that he had traveled to Turkey and several African countries to meet with ISIS representatives.
Prosecutor submitted a preparation for indictment last night following an arrest warrant issued by the Jerusalem District Attorney at the High Court at the beginning of May.
Israel has been vigilant in monitoring potential threats from ISIS and has taken steps to prevent any infiltration or attacks by the group.
There have been isolated incidents where individuals in Israel have been arrested for alleged connections to ISIS or for planning terrorist attacks inspired by ISIS ideology. Israeli security forces, including Shin Bet and the police, have conducted operations to apprehend such individuals and thwart any potential attacks.
