The US representative at the United Nations will boycott a tribute to be held in honor of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi who died in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran.
The United States delegates said they won’t be part of the tributary session to be held by the Assembly for the late sitting President Raisi.
The U.S. official who disclosed the information anonymously said “We won’t attend this event in any capacity.”
No official report has been made by the United States government on the boycott but an insider source claimed that U.S. President Joe Biden faced criticism from the Republicans for offering his condolences to the people of Iran.
The anonymous official claimed that the United Nations should rather be happy for the people of Iran who have been oppressed by the Iran republic with former President Raisi masterminding the unjudicial killing of the people of Iran including a high rate of human rights abuses in 1988.
The official claimed Iran witnessed an increase in abuse of women and girl children during the administration of Raisi, saying his death shouldn’t be remorse but rather be celebrated.
The U.S. Deputy Ambassador at the United Nations Robert Wood with his 14 counterparts failed to be part of the moment of silence for the late President at the U.N. Security Council during their meeting upon the confirmation of his death.
