US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, speaking during an interview with Bloomberg Television on Wednesday in Kyiv amid air raid sirens, underscored the urgency of the situation.
He emphasized that Chinese firms must immediately cease supplying components that could potentially be utilized by Russia in weapons targeting Ukraine.
Adeyemo warned that failure to comply with this directive would result in significant consequences.
He elaborated on the necessity of imposing stricter sanctions to prevent Russia from obtaining crucial components, particularly emphasizing the need to address the flow of such components from China.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier clarified, stating, “There is no direct provision of arms by China to Russia for use in Ukraine.”
However, accusations have emerged regarding China’s role in bolstering Moscow’s military capabilities by supplying essential components. Blinken emphasized, “These components are aiding Russia’s extensive efforts to ramp up production of munitions, tanks, armored vehicles, and missiles.”
