France President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday gave Kyiv the green light to identify and neutralize targets in Russia as a war between both countries reached a new height.
Macron announced during a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Meseberg.
Macron stressed that Ukraine should be permitted to attack specific Russian-based military sites that are used to launch deadly missiles into the war-ridden area.
He added that delivering weapons to Ukraine and telling them not to use the weapons will rather reduce the victory of Ukraine’s victory against Russia.
“We support Ukraine to resist and defend its borders, and we don’t want any escalation” Macron reaffirmed.
He reiterated that Ukraine must be allowed to target military bases that Russia uses as launchpads, saying there should be exceptions as they must tell Ukraine not to target civilian infrastructure or other military targets apart from the base where missiles are launched only.
Macron’s statement comes amid NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s warning of any interference in the conflict in Ukraine, urging member-states against de-escalation of the situation.
