Mexico utilized Article 63 of the International Court of Justice regulation to submit a declaration of intervention in the case concerning the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the ICJ’s official source on Tuesday.
In its statement, Mexico expressed its intention to intervene to present its perspective on how the relevant provisions of the Convention could be interpreted in this case.
The move signifies Mexico’s active involvement in the legal proceedings and its commitment to providing its viewpoint on the matter.
However ,acceptance of the application is still pending.
The ICJ has guaranteed that both South Africa and Israel will have the chance “to submit written observations on Mexico’s intervention declaration,” as outlined in Article 83.
