The pro-China group in Taiwan, the Nationalist power which is currently the majority in the legislature has passed a bill diminishing the power of the Taiwan president.
The changes initiated by the pro-China legislature will deplete the power of the president which is said to be in favor of China which is bent on bringing Taiwan under its control by all means.
The Nationalists party continued to declare their support for the unification of China by bringing the Island under Beijing’s control after separating itself from the mainland during the Civil War of 1949.
The Nationalists Party took control of the legislature with a single-seat majority after elections in January while the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of Taiwan produced the president.
The Democratic Party’s approach has been majorly pro-West agenda as they moved closer with the United States which has been met with dissent from China which claimed Taiwan as part of its territory.
After implementing the new changes, thousands of people gathered outside the legislative building demanding a change in the new policy while pro-China supporters turned out in support of it.
