Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the attack on Rafah that led to the death of 45 people on Sunday as a tragic mistake.
This was disclosed in a briefing by the Israeli Prime Minister where he said efforts to secure innocent civilians were futile.
“Despite our efforts not to harm innocent civilians, last night, there was a tragic mistake.
We are investigating the incident and will obtain a conclusion because this is our policy,” Netanyahu said.
According to the Gazan health officials, no less than 45 deaths were recorded while nearly 100 injuries were reported during the airstrikes on displaced civilians living in tents.
The Sunday attack has been condemned by world leaders with the EU Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell calling for the Implementation of the International Court of Justice order on Rafah.
France President Emmanuel Macron also decried Israel’s actions in Rafah, calling them to abide by the ICJ ruling.
