Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Belarus on Friday for a nuclear and tactical security meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
According to a report from the Kremlin, the Russian President is meeting with Belarus President Lukashenko to discuss: “security issues and the second phase of Russian nuclear exercises with the participation of the Belarusian military.”
President Putin’s visit to Belarus is seen as a potential threat to NATO countries like Poland and Sweden which sees the security pact between them as a potential threat to its territorial sovereignty.
Amid the high risk of nuclear war in Europe, NATO originally suspended cooperation with Belarus in 2021 ending after Belarus allowed Russia access to invade Ukraine through its border.
In a bid to maintain high positions in Eastern Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin continued to maintain close diplomatic cooperation with Belarus which included sharing of military information including nuclear and tactical stand.
The outcome of the meeting between Putin and Lukashenko is said to add another layer to the developing situation in Europe as the world prepared for a nuclear war between Russia and the West.
