Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, who’s the leader of the Houthi movement, claims that America aims to transform the Gaza Strip into a prison with sole access via the sea, under the supervision of American military personnel.
He further asserted that the American floating port in the Gaza Strip functions as a military base, and Washington has put itself at risk by deploying armoured vehicles and air defences there.
The Houthi movement has been involved in a protracted conflict in Yemen, primarily against the internationally recognized government supported by a Saudi-led coalition. The group has launched numerous missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including oil facilities and civilian areas, claiming to retaliate against Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen.
The U.S. has supported the Saudi-led coalition with intelligence, logistics, and arms sales, viewing the conflict as a proxy battle against Iranian influence in the region, as Iran is accused of providing support to the Houthis.
The U.S. has also imposed sanctions on Houthi leaders and entities associated with the group.
The statement regarding America’s alleged plans for the Gaza Strip, made by Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, reflects the broader geopolitical tensions in the region and the complexities of various actors’ involvement in conflicts such as those in Yemen and Palestine.
