Police Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke provided details of the assailant’s erratic behavior, stating that the individual had initially been present within the shopping center, exited, and then returned to unleash chaos upon unsuspecting shoppers.
“No ideology or motive is clear,” Cooke remarked. “There’s nothing that we are aware of at the scene that would indicate any motive or any ideology.”

“We’re not ruling anything out,” Cooke affirmed.

“She confronted the offender who had moved by this stage to level five (of the mall) as she continued to walk quickly behind him to catch up with him. He turned, faced her, raised a knife. She discharged a firearm and that person is now deceased,” Cooke confrimed.
Cooke also revealed the grim aftermath of the assailant’s actions, stating, “I’m advised that there are five victims who are now deceased as a result of the actions of this offender.”

“Even 20 minutes after people were rushed out of the mall, I saw SWAT teams of people sweeping the surrounding streets,” one witness recounted.
