Mohammed Buba Marwa, the chairman of the national drug law enforcement agency, claims that drug abuse can be eradicated if people respect the dignity of their culture and traditions.
At the annual public lecture of the national institute for cultural orientation (nico), he spoke in Abuja on Tuesday as a guest speaker.
Marwa, represented by Anthony Madubuike, director of the drug demand reduction, said that providing education, skills training, employment opportunities, and social support services to youths would benefit the fight against drug use.
Ado Muhammed Yahuza, the executive secretary of Nico, said the institute had established culture clubs in secondary schools around the country for cultural orientation.
