The Federal government of Ngieria and the striking doctors have finally agreed on the ongoing industrial action.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, held a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), resulting in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The meeting, which lasted from Friday evening until Saturday, saw the attendance of NMA President, Dr Uche Ojinmah, and NARD President, Dr Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa.
After a lengthy negotiation process, the federal government and striking doctors have finally reached a truce regarding the ongoing industrial action.
Leading members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) were present at a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
The meeting spanned from Friday evening through to Saturday and saw involvement from NMA President, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, and NARD President, Dr. Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa. A resolution was reached after several hours of back-and-forth discussions.
