The Burkina Faso government has declared its intention to adopt a fresh strategy in its struggle against terrorism, in the hopes of curbing the high number of fatalities resulting from the country’s ongoing conflicts.
Lamine Kaboré, the prosecutor of Ouahigouya’s court, stated in a press release sent to AFP that he had received information from the local gendarmerie indicating that approximately sixty individuals had been slain by uniformed assailants in the village of Karma, which is situated in the province of Yatenga.
The prosecutor affirmed that he was fully aware of the gravity of the situation, and as such, had issued the appropriate directives to investigate the matter thoroughly and apprehend all individuals implicated in the incident.
He urged anyone in possession of information concerning the events to come forward and share it with the authorities.
Several residents, who were contacted by AFP, disclosed that survivors of the attack had testified that a group of over a hundred individuals on motorcycles and pickup trucks had descended on the village of Karma on Thursday.
