In a distressing turn of events, central Khartoum was once again rattled by air strikes this Friday. Witnesses reported that the strikes occurred near the army headquarters.
The sound of gunfire has been unrelenting since nightfall, and this has been the case for several days now, since the fighting first erupted on April 15. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the conflict has so far claimed the lives of 413 people, with 3,551 others injured.
For the past six days, clashes have been ongoing between the regular army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane, who has been the de facto leader of Sudan since the 2021 coup, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under the command of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo.
