The accused herders had slaughtered no less than 34 people who were seeking refuge at a primary school in Mgban in Nyiev council ward in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The event took place on Friday night between 9 and 10.
This happened just two days after the horrific murder of 46 people at Umogidi in the state’s Otukpo LGA.
By the local government’s security officer, Christopher Waku, the LGA chairman, Mike Aba, referred to the assault as genocide.
24 bodies were found in the classrooms where the inhabitants were seeking refuge, according to Waku, who claimed to be at the scene of the crime. Ten bodies were found on the road, indicating that they were fleeing the attack when they were shot at.
Catherine Anene, the State Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the attack but requested additional time to gather more information.
