The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has completed a 50% Internet and mobile connectivity program in some rural areas in the country.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIFEC, Prince Ofosu Sefa said 473 of the mobile sites were active and delivering voice and data services to the citizens of the country.
The project, which was started in 2020, is also subsidized by the China EXIM Bank. The Exim Bank seeks to establish about 2,016 rural telephony sites in rural communities across the country and provide a mobile network capacity for about 3.4 million people in the country.
